August Erdman was born on April 6, 1916, in Portland, Oregon, the son of Jacob and Amalie (Mollie) Erdman. He was baptized on May 28, 1916, and his baptism certificate (Tauf-Schein) was signed by Rev. Jacob Hergert of the St. Pauls Evangelical and Reformed Church.
August Erdman was a member of the 1930 St. Pauls Confirmation Class.
On April 9, 1939, August Erdman married Dorothy McIntyre at the St. Pauls Church.
