Vernon E. Mueller
Vernon (Vern) Edward Mueller was born on May 4, 1925, in Fort Collins, Colorado, the son of Otto Mueller and Lydia Schmidt. Otto Mueller's parents migrated to the United States from Reinwald, Russia. Lydia Schmidt's parents emigrated from Frank, Russia.
After graduating from the University of Oregon, Vern started his full-time career as a radio journalist, serving as KPOJ Program Director/News Director and KPOK News Director from 1950-74.

In the mid-1970s, Mueller served as the General Manager of the Oregon Association of Broadcasters and as news anchorman for the KEZI television station in Eugene, Oregon, and as host of the program "Feedback" featured on Oregon Education and Public Broadcasting (now Oregon Public Broadcasting).
In 1989, Mueller was selected by the Oregon Association of Broadcasters as the "Broadcaster of the Year," making him a member of the organization's Hall of Fame.
Vern Mueller died in Portland on December 24, 1999, at the age of 74.
