Solly Hergert
Solomon "Solly" Hergert was born on May 3, 1915 in Portland the son of Rev. Elias Hergert and Maria Elisabeth Liebrecht.
At Jefferson High School, Solly was a four sport prep star. Solly starred on both the football and basketball teams in the early 1930's. He was one of the last football players utilizing the drop kick. Solly also lettered in track and baseball.

Solly later became one of Portland's top softball pitchers, playing for the Wooden Shoe Tavern and Collins Pipe in Portland's American League during the 1930's and 1940's. He played together with "Karlie" Miller.
Solly died on May 13, 1970 and he was buried at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland.
