Second German Congregational Prayer Meetings
Prayer was a vital part of the church in Russia, so the Second German Congregational Church offered prayer services to the community of believers. The meetings were held on Sunday afternoons and on Wednesday and Saturday evenings.
In the early years, a Conference of the German Congregational Churches was held every summer in various cities, including our church, which hosted the conference many times. Eventually, the now aging brothers and sisters were content to have a combined meeting with the prayer groups of the other four German churches in Portland every three months.
The final combined prayer meeting was held at the Evangelical Congregational Church in 1983.
