Second German Congregational Missions
The church membership felt strongly that it was important to support missionary work around the globe.
From the earliest days of the congregational churches in America, dating back to the seventeenth century, an important annual event, the Harvest Festival, took place.
Usually held in early autumn, “Mission Fest,” as it became known, was a very special occasion. People brought an offering of gratitude for the past year's blessings. Flowers, produce, and canned goods decorated the church.
The special offering was used to support our foreign missionaries, and the food items were given to missions here at home.
