Johann Heinrich Wolf was born in Norka, Russia, on July 3, 1866.
Johann Heinrich married Margaretha Schleicher on February 21, 1889, in Norka. Margaretha was born on August 29, 1866, in Norka, the daughter of Heinrich Schleicher (born 1836 in Norka) and Elisabeth Schmidt (born 1839 in Norka).
Heinrich and Margaretha were blessed with a daughter, Katharina, born in Norka on May 5, 1891. In 1892, the family left Russia and immigrated to the United States, settling in Portland. Margaretha's brother, Johannes Schleicher, was also one of the early Volga German settlers in Portland, arriving about 1898.
Three children were born in Portland: John (born on October 12, 1894), Heinrich (born on November 5, 1896), and Maria (born on August 12, 1903).
During the 1910, 1920, and 1930 censuses, Heinrich (Henry) and Margaretha (Grace) lived at 434 Russell Street. Henry worked as a longshoreman until 1930, when the census indicates that he was no longer employed. Both John and Maria continued living with their parents at this time.
Henry died on July 18, 1936, in Portland. Grace died on September 28, 1952.
