George and Maria Catharina Weitz
Georg Weitz was born on March 28, 1858, in Yagodnaya Polyana, Russia. He married Maria Catharina Scheiermann on January 1878 in Yagodnaya Polyana. She was born on April 15, 1858.
In Russia, Georg and Maria Catharina had five children:
George F., born October 25, 1878
Jacob, born December 21, 1882
Alexander, born July 29, 1885
Catharina, born November 4, 1887
Peter, born October 20, 1889
The family came to the United States in 1892 and first settled in Colfax, Washington.
Three daughters were born in Colfax:
Mary, about 1894
Lydia, about 1897
Mathilde, February 19, 1901
It appears that Georg (now George) and Maria Catharina (now Mary) arrived in Portland about 1913.
George and Mary were founding members of the Zion German Congregational Church, established in 1914.
Mary died on December 15, 1923, in Endicott, Washington, and was buried there.
George died in Portland on January 11, 1938, and was buried at the Rose City Cemetery.
