Adam and Elisabeth Vogel
Adam Vogel was born in 1866 in Franzosen, Russia, the son of Heinrich Jacob Vogel (born 1824) and Katharina Schneider (born 1824). Adam married Anna Elisabeth (surname unknown) in 1884. She was born in 1863 in Franzosen.
Adam and Anna Elisabeth immigrated to the United States via Winnipeg, Canada, in 1909. They first settled in Russell, Kansas, and lived there in 1920. By 1924, they had migrated West to Portland and lived at 824 E. 8th Avenue. They later moved to 487 Beech Street and lived there from 1925- 1936. From 1937 until their deaths in 1941, they lived at 3947 NE 8th Avenue.
Adam was a carpenter, as was his brother, Jacob Vogel, who lived and died in Franzosen. Three of Jacob’s sons, Henry, Karl, and Emil, immigrated to the United States in 1911 and 1912. Adam Vogel was listed on the ship manifests as their sponsor.
Anna Elisabeth died on April 4, 1941, in Portland.
Adam died on September 5, 1941, in Portland. His funeral services were held at St. Pauls Evangelical and Reformed Church on September 9, 1941. He was buried at the Historic Columbian Cemetery in Portland.
