Conrad and Catharina Margaretha Wacker
Conrad Wacker was born on September 27, 1867, in Norka, Russia, the son of Conrad Wacker and Catharina Bachmann. He married Catharina Margaretha Hahn on January 8, 1894, in Norka. Catharina was also born in Norka. Conrad and Catharina had nine children.
Conrad and Catharina arrived in New York on June 3, 1900, and traveled immediately to Portland, where they made their new home. They became members of the Free Evangelical Brethren Church. In 1913, Conrad was part of a small group from the church that met with Rev. Heinrich Hagelganz to discuss the establishment of a new church, which later became the Second German Congregational Church.
In 1918, the family relocated to a farm near Odessa, Washington, where they resided until 1926, when they returned to Portland.
Conrad died on April 18, 1936. He was buried at the Rose City Cemetery. In his obituary, Rev. Hagelganz recognized Conrad as a leader in the congregation.
Catharina died on January 1, 1945, and was buried at the Rose City Cemetery, beside Conrad.
